Alternative solutions

Modebest always undertake a pre-project review to establish potential programme and cost savings. Within these reviews Modebest have established and utilised various alternative solutions to benefit both the project and client.

Fibre Mesh Concrete: Provided programme saving as we were able to omit any reinforcement and pour larger areas allowing following trades onto the slab areas quicker. Inherent to the programme saving came the cost saving.

Laser Cut Formwork: Modebest utilised off site laser cut formwork on a high class bespoke frame in Whitechapel. This saved invaluable time and onsite resources in cutting the formwork required, and provided the required accuracy every time.

Lightweight Construction: Modebest were one of the first contractors in the UK to utilise a lightweight precast system called Bubble Deck. As the name suggests it consists of large precast concrete planks with plastic bubbles cast and tied in. The system gains all the programme benefits of precast installation, yet is lightweight and thus saves on structural design and therefore cost. Although widely used in Europe Modebest were one of the first to use in the UK on a project in Guernsey laying 15,500m2 in total.

Out Sourcing: Modebest looks beyond the UK to source it materials and have been able to offer savings to our clients recently by souring materials from Ireland, Holland, Germany and Belgium.
